One of the abducted students of Greenfield University, Kaduna, has been released.
The mother of the released student, Mrs. Lauretta Attahiru, confirmed this on Tuesday to journalists in Kaduna.
She did not however give details of how her son was released as she declined to make further comments.
The police could not however be reached to confirm the release of the student as Mohammad Jalige, spokesman of the Kaduna state police command, did not respond to telephone calls and a text message.
On April 18, another gang of bandits attacked Greenfield University and abducted 22 students.
The bandits had demanded N800 million for the release of the students, however, while negotiations were still going on, five of the students were killed.
The abductors of the university students had warned on Monday that the remaining 17 students will be killed on Tuesday unless N100 million ransom was paid.
