“Why Afe Babalola is supporting me” – Fayose

Ekiti State governor, Ayodele Fayose has recalled that those who attempted to pitch him against legal luminary, Afe Babalola failed in their bid to do so.
Fayose made this disclosure while delivering a lecture on Wednesday at Adetiloye Hall of Fountain Hotel Ado-Ekiti at the 2015 Civil Service Week programme.
Giving a brief narration of what ensued in the heat of the build up to the state gubernatorial election in 2007, Fayose said ‘’they needed men like that to take me out, but after a while, the truth caught up with lies and killed lies’’Ayodele-Fayose-
“I am using my personal experience to judge the people of Ekiti, my personal experience’’
‘’Nine years ago, the story was different, they turned my back against Chief Afe Babalola, they printed his posters, they went to Ibadan to put it on the walls around Adamasingba, around his house, Afe Babalola for governor, they said I said so, that I printed the posters, they went close to his house in Bodija, they did the same thing, they went to take men carrying guns in an uncompleted building close to his house using dark glasses and taking their pictures and sending to him to give an impression that I want to kill him.’’
The governor however said ‘’Lies will never endure.’’ Adding that ‘’The persecution of every man that is innocent will only make him a better person.’’
‘’And what doesn’t kill you will only make you a better person.’’
‘’Today, all those lies collapsed, Chief Afe Babalola can see the lies, he saw that won kan gbewon mora ni. They needed men like that to take me out, but after a while, the truth caught up with lies and killed lies.’’
‘’Today, Baba can see clearly and that’s the more reason he’s standing up for me because he realised what they told him then we’re lies
