A King with honours at home and abroad

The late Ooni Okunade Sijuade Olubuse 11 was a king honoured at home and abroad. Just as his grand father, the late Ooni Adelekan Sijuade Olubuse l was the first Ooni to venture out of Ile Ife, Okunade Sijuade was the first Ooni to preach Yoruba tradition and culture outside the chores of Nigeria and he received many national and international awards and decorations in honour and recognition of his various achievements which included, Commander of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (CFR), Keeper of the sea of Yoruba land, Honourable Chancellor, Bayero University, Kano, Nigeria, Former Honourable Chancellor, University of Technology, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria, Docter of Literature (Honoris Causa) University of Uyo, Akwa Ibom State and Doctor of Civil Laws (Honoris Causa) Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.Ooni Are crown
The late royal father held the highest national honour of the Republic of Poland; Royal Belgian Distinction of Commander in the Order of the Crown; honours in Benin republic, Dominican Republic, Cuba, Brazil and Grand Commodore, Ohio State, USA. As a worthy custodian of the household of Oduduwa, its shrine and the protector of its legacies as well as cultural ambassador, he played motivating roles during Ifa worship celebrations within and outside the chores of Yorubaland. He was highly revered in Cuba, Haiti, Brazil and the Dominian Republic.
