Tragedy struck the All Progressives Congress (APC) as Prince Abubakar Audu, its gubernatorial candidate in the governorship election held yesterday in Kogi State reportedly died this evening.
Prince Audu was in a pole position to be affirmed winner of the election earlier declared inconclusive by the INEC, but his party, the APC, was leading the polls having the won in 16 local governments while his closest rival, the incumbent governor, Capt. Wada Idris of the PDP won in 6 local governments, reportedly died in his home.
Sources in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital, told www.infinitylive.com.ng that he had a heart attack and collapsed in the early hours of today. The source said he was immediately resuscitated and was instructed by his Doctors after the incident to take a rest and he reportedly obeyed and switched off his phones and retired into his room.
He reportedly went to sleep and slipped into a coma. Efforts were made to revive him and fly him to Abuja. He was reportedly confirmed dead at about noon.
