Remi Bello to be installed Rotary District Governor, lists star projects

As preparations for the installation of Rtn. Remi Bello FCA, a past President of Rotary Club of Ikeja South as District Governor Rotary International, District 9110 hots up, the man who will preside over about 120 clubs and its over 3,500 members has pledged to continue Rotary’s tradition of “doing good in the World.”

Speaking at a press conference to herald his installation slated for Saturday July, 3, 2021, Bello, the immediate past chief executive officer of Crittall-Hope Nigeria Ltd. disclosed that the essence of the installation event is a fund raiser for his pet projects in the 2021/2022 Rotary Year.

Reading through the synopsis of his pet projects for his service year, Bello highlighted his star project as education with “Adopt A School Service Project” as the theme. The scheme is a process where Rotary clubs or zones are to adopt a public primary, do the NEED assessment, evaluate and execute the project that will be worth N3.5m per school.

Such projects to be executed include provision of clean water, sanitation and hygiene, provision of sick bay as well as renovation of existing structures, provision or stocking of a small library and provision of chairs, tables and writing aids.

Bello is not new to making humanitarian interventions in the area of education, to commemorate his 50th birthday in 2007, he organised a fund raiser to build a primary school on two plots of land which he had earlier donated to Temidire community in Ifo Local Government, Ogun State. The primary school is presently run by the Ogun State government with a student population of about 600 pupils.

The Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo Okukenu lll will lead dignitaries including the governors of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-olu, Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State, Seyi Makinde of Oyo State and Muhammad Badaru of Jigawa State to the ceremony to be chaired by the Asiwaju of Remoland, Otunba Onafowokan with Chief (Mrs.) Onikepo Akande, former minister of Trade and Industries as Mother of the day.

Also expected are Oba Saheed Elegushi of Ikateland, the Iyalode of Yorubaland, Chief Mrs. Alaba Lawson, the managing director of First Bank, Dr. Adeduntan and Y.O Saliu of Flour Mills of Nigeria.

Speaking earlier, the chairman of the installation committee, Past Assistant Governor Henry Akinyele urged the media men present to give the needed support to the Remi Bello administration as he sets out to make the needed positive change in District 9110.
