Ogun State Police Command has arrested a fleeing suspected baby factory operator, Mrs Florence Ogbonna, who allegedly operates baby-making factories Mowe and Ofada towns in the state.
An inmate who managed to escape from Ogbonna’s captivity narrated how the suspect hired able bodied men to impregnate the girls at the baby factory located at Imedu Olori a surburb of Mowe town in Obafemi Owode Local Government area of Ogun State.
The arrest was sequel to a two weeks manhunt for Ogbonna, who according to the Police, jumped bail.
The command had recently busted two baby factories and freed more than 20 victims, including pregnant teenagers and children.
The factories, which were located in Ofada and Mowe, Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area of the state, were allegedly operated by Ogbonna.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, told journalists that Ogbonna, who was standing trial for human trafficking, jumped bail and bolted following the newly-discovered baby factories linked to her.
Speaking with journalists at the Zone 2 Command in Abeokuta, on Monday, the suspect denied selling babies, but said she was “only helping young ladies, who need help.”
Florence Ogbona who acclaimed to be a nurse also denied jumping bail, saying she took permission to attend her daughter’s wedding.
Ogbonna stated, “I have nine children; I attend to people, mostly young ladies, who need help. I don’t sell babies; I only help those who are in need and God has been helping me. I don’t go and meet anybody, they come to me.
