The Awujale of Ijebuland Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, Ogbagba ll, has joined his ancestors.
The revered monarch passed away on Sunday at the age of 91.
Oba Adetona was born on May 10, 1934. Until his death, he served as the Awujale of the Ijebu Kingdom, in Nigeria. He was from the Anikilata ruling house of the ancient town.
He was installed as king on April 2, 1960, making him one of the longest-reigning monarchs in Nigeria.
His death came just hours after the passing of Muhammadu Buhari, his long-time friend.
The latemonarch was conspicuously missing at the last Ojude-Oba, a high profile convergence of ijebus usually celebrated after the ileya festival at the outer court of the Awujale palace.
