Minimum Wage: Tinubu invites NLC, TUC for talks

The Federal Government is on the verge of agreeing on a new national minimum wage as President Bola Tinubu has invited the organised labour consisting of the Nigeria Labour Congress and the Trade Union Congress to a meeting at the Aso Villa on Thursday. A close source in the labour leadership who craved anonymity made this known to our correspondent on Wednesday. According to him, Tinubu is willing to settle the lingering talks on minimum wage on Thursday and has invited the joint union presidents to a meeting.

NDLEA arrests drug baron who flee South Africa to hide in his village in Imo state

A drug baron on the wanted list of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, identified as Joachin Mbonu, has been arrested. Mbonu was arrested by operatives of the NDLEA in his village mansion in Imo State on July 5. A statement on Tuesday by the agency’s spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, said Mbonu was arrested along with his associate. Power Failure: NERC goes tough on DisCos, rolls out sanctions

The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission has rolled out touch sanctions against Discos that commit infractions capable of inflicting pain on consumers. Among other things, NERC said it would reduce five per cent of the administrative, and operational expenditure of any electricity distribution company that failed to offtake at least 95 per cent of the total energy allocated to it for distribution. Alleged N1.5bn Fraud: Reps probe Women Affairs Minister for spending N20m on sanitary pads

The House of Representatives has queried the Minister of Women Affairs, Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye, for spending unrelated expenditures, including N45m for a New Year party, N20m for sanitary pads, the News Agency of Nigeria reports on Wednesday. APC, Nat. Chair, Ganduje, family to appear in court for corruption charges

Abdullahi Ganduje, The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, his wife Hafsat, and six others are set to appear before a Kano State High Court on Thursday.
