In a move aimed at ‘injecting fresh bloods into politics in Oyo State, Governor Abiola Ajimobi , this morning sacked all political appointees in Oyo state.
The motive behind the termination of the appointments of all the appointees according to sources in Ibadan was to dispense patronage to professional politicians just as politicking for the 2015 general election in the state is gathering tempo.
Without a prior notice, the entire cabinet woke up to the rude shock on Monday as the state governor, Abiola Ajimobi, terminated their appointments during an executive council meeting held with them in his office.
Sources told National Infinitylive that none of the governor’s aides had any inkling of the mass purge until Gov. Ajimobi informed them at the meeting.
Dotun Omokemi, the Director of Cabinet in the state’s civil service, issued a terse statement confirming the sack.
It was a total purge as all members of the state cabinet, including the secretary to the state government, Akin Olajide; Chief of Staff, Adeolu Akande; all the commissioners as well as special advisers were affected, leaving only the governor and his deputy, Moses Alake Adeyemo, behind.
