UBA Chairman, Elumelu bags Belgium’s prestigious national honour

The UBA Group has announced the conferment of Belgium’s oldest and most important national honour, the honourary distinction of Officer in the Order of Leopold, on its chairman, Tony Elumelu.

According to a tweet on the Group’s official Twitter handle, @UBAGroup, “this is in recognition of his commitment to the eradication of poverty & the economic empowerment of young Africans.”

Elumelu, a respected African economist, entrepreneur, and philanthropist is the chairman of Heirs Holdings, the United Bank for Africa, Transcorp and founder of The Tony Elumelu Foundation.

The Tony Elumelu Foundation is a $100m entrepreneurship commitment by Dr. Elumelu to empower 10,000 African entrepreneurs over 10 years.
