Tambuwal Pledges Independence at Sokoto House of Assembly, Dissolves Boards of Parastatals

Sokoto State Governor, Hon Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, said his administration did not interfere in the selection of the principal officers of the state House of Assembly because it wants a harmonious working relationship with the legislative arm of government.
Speaking yesterday when he granted audience to the members of the Assembly led by the newly-elected Speaker, Hon Salihu Maidaji, Tambuwal said the state government will encourage and support the new leadership to achieve its set objectives.

He commended the members for the orderly manner they have conducted their affairs on the first day of sitting, and admonished the new leaders to work for the unity, stability and progress of the state at all times.
Tambuwal said he will use his experience as a former lawmaker to ensure a smooth working relationship between the executive and other arms of government in the state.
Earlier in his remarks, Hon Maidaji commended Tambuwal for his role in the promotion of the ethos of the legislature, assuring that the state Assembly will work hand in hand with the state government to provide quality and responsble leadership to the people of Sokoto State.
He also appealed to the Governor to always be on hand to offer advises to the new members when the need arises.
So also, Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, has dissolved governing boards of government parastatals, agencies and departments.
A statement issued by his spokesman, Malam Imam Imam, said the dissolution does not affect agencies whose tenures are guaranteed by the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria or extant laws of Sokoto State Government.
The statement reads in full: “In line with established tradition and precedents, and with the coming into office of the new administration in Sokoto State, members of the public are hereby notified that all governing boards of government departments, agencies and parastatals, except those whose tenures are guaranteed by the Constitution and the extant Laws, do hereby stand dissolved.
“The state government thanks all those individuals for the services rendered to the state.
“Accordingly, accounting officers in the affected establishment should ensure proper handing over of government offices and properties.”
