Tanker explosion kills 10 on Lagos Ibadan expressway

No fewer than 10 persons have been confirmed dead on Thursday after they were reportedly burnt to death in a tanker explosion at the Sagamu interchange, along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway in Ogun State. Our correspondent gathered that five vehicles were also burnt in the inferno. The Public Education Officers of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Ogun Sector Command, Florence Okpe and Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps, Babatunde Akinbiyi, confirmed the accident. An early morning road crash on the ever-busy Lagos/Ibadan expressway claimed four lives while six others sustained varying degrees of injuries. The accident involved a Mazda bus and a truck on the Iperu bridge, Ogere on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway. The Federal Government has said it would demolish structures on the right of way of the ongoing reconstruction of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
