Suspected gunmen kidnap Ogun community leader

Tajudeen Omotayo, a community leader at Imope, in the Ijebu-North Local Government Area of Ogun State, was kidnapped by suspected gunmen on Saturday.

According to a source, who is a resident of the town, Omotayo left his place for Ijebu-Ode around 11 am on Saturday in his car marked W 3J9 Ogun.

The source revealed that Omotayo was kidnapped on his way back home around 3pm by unknown gunmen who accosted him at Oke-Eri in Imope and took him away leaving his vehicle on the road.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Abimbola Oyeyemi confirmed the incident and that information about the incident was sketchy.

Oyeyemi said “We are aware of the incident. We are on it. Our people are there —Operatives of anti-kidnapping unit are there. Area Commander, Ijebu-Ode is there. All the DPOs have been deployed to the place. We are working on it.”
