An aggrieved subscriber told www.infinitylive.com.ng correspondent that “I feel very sad and would like to plead with the appropriate authorities to call MTN Nigeria to order. We are their customers and should be treated with respect and dignity’’ He continued “MTN is a South African company doing business in Nigeria and treating Nigerians like this, especially after the recent xenophobic incidents in South Africa is unfortunate and disheartening.”
The on-going re-registration exercise was as a result of the sham registration of consumer SIMs embarked on by the company. Aggrieved consumers also accused the mobile network company of allocating one SIM number to multiple users thereby causing confusion and untold embarrassment for the subscribers.
