The newly appointed commissioner of police in charge of Oyo state command, Mr. Adeleye Oyebade has charged officers and men of the command to respect the fundamental human rights of citizens while carrying out their duties even as he assured residents of the state that he would fight crime and criminality to a standstill across the 33 local government areas of the state.
He gave the assurance shortly after he took over the mantle of leadership of the state command from Mr. Mohammed Katsina, who has been redeployed to Kano at the state command’s headquarters, Eleyele, Ibadan,
Oyebade reiterated the commitment of the police high command to change the perception of the police from reactive to pro-active, corrupt to incorruptible and lethargic to dynamic institution in line with the vision of the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr. Solomon Arase.
He urged the officers and men of the command to key into the vision or be shown the way out of the force.
According to him: “It will be dangerous for a police officer that is not ready to imbibe the culture of professional best practices, diligence and discipline to remain in the Nigeria Police of today.
My advice to such persons is to kindly tender their resignation before they are fished out and flushed out.
The new police commissioner also assured that the command under his watch would embrace an intelligence-led policing and conduct investigations with professional dexterity.
He disclosed that the command new policing under the leadership of the IGP is building a community police that would ensure public order.
