My attention has been drawn to the political gimmick and tomfoolery of some impostors who purportedly suspended me and other respectable leaders of the party in Ogun State for allegedly mismanaging non-existent party funds.
Ordinarily, I would not have dignified these characters that are full of illegalities with a response because it is common knowledge that it is the dog that wags the tail, and not the other way round. The two drunken masters – Oladipupo Adebutu and Sikirulai Ogundele – are suffering from grand illusion after their usual consumption of some chemical substances.
Let it be known to the general public that these people do not represent the Ogun State Executive Committee of the PDP. The only authentic and recognized State Exco of the PDP is the one led by Engr. Adebayo Dayo which has been approved by the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the PDP, recognized by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and affirmed by a court judgment.
The Engr. Adebayo Dayo-led State Exco is the only body recognized to run the affairs of the PDP in Ogun State. It is the only body that can discipline any erring member. No other body that is not covered by the laws of the land can lay claim to suspending a member of the party, let alone NEC members. It is a pity. They should know that they cannot take away what they never gave ab initio. Very soon, they will end up they belong.
At this juncture, it is apposite to state that my involvement and contributions to the PDP in the South West can never be compared to the impostors and their forefathers in politics who believe that because they are governors, they are the only ones who should be in control of the party in the zone. I am referring to people like Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti State and his puppet, Governor Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo State.
One cannot help but wonder what the basis for such conduct is. They say some people want to destroy their legacies because they have become governors. Pray, what legacies are they talking about? Perhaps, it is the legacy of deceit, lies and corruption. These are men who could not pick their bills before they became governors. Now, that they have corruptly enriched themselves with public funds, they want to ride roughshod over everyone, including their benefactors. They have a proclivity for destroying worthy legacies while they pretend to be what they are not. What have they done to enhance the political fortunes of the party in the South West? Fayose and Mimiko should know that whoever throws stones in the market makes his own people vulnerable to the risk of being hit by them.
I have always made my position clear. And that is that I have tremendous respect for the two PDP leaders – Senator Ali Modu Sheriff and Senator Ahmed Makarfi. While pushing for the reconciliation of the two leaders, it does not mean that I will not contest any injustice in respect of the PDP in Ogun State and the South West.
What is the crux of the matter? Governors Fayose and Mimiko are fighting to take control of the PDP in the South West by dismantling all the structures they met when they came into the party and even before their emergence as governors. Unfortunately, Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, who is one of the superior national leaders of the party and who should ensure that the positions are evenly shared among the stakeholders, is supporting his colleague-governors without considering the interest of others. Therefore, I wish to emphatically state that until the problem of the South West PDP is resolved, it is not over until it is over.
On the national leadership crisis of the PDP, I have always been in support of a peaceful and amicable resolution of the issues. Some people might think that I am more supportive of one than the other. But, that is not true. I have always done my utmost best to bring the two leaders together and encouraged an amicable resolution of the issues in a win-win situation.
In fact, given the recent happenings at the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court, I put a call through to Senator Sheriff and urged him to allow the reconciliation process to pull through. I also called Senator Makarfi and appealed to him to do everything within his powers to encourage the reconciliation move. I did all these because of my love and passion for the party.
I have got nothing to do with the national leadership crisis. My involvement in the legal tussle relates to the South West PDP alone. My interest is about the good of the PDP in Ogun State and the South West.
On this note, I wish to appeal to our people to remain calm. We are in the PDP. We will remain in the PDP and continue to fight until justice is done in respect of the PDP in the South West.
