Promote Religious Unity, Gov. Tambuwal urges Christians, Muslims

Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has urged the Nigerian Christian Pilgrims Commission to promote harmonious coexistence among the various religions in the country.

He stated this when members of the commission, led by the Executive Secretary, John Kennedy Okpara, paid him a courtesy visit in Sokoto.

He said Nigerian pilgrims have general conducted themselves while away on pilgrimage, and commended the Christian Pilgrims Commission for its innovative approach in handling the welfare of pilgrims at home and abroad.

“Peaceful coexistence and religious harmony will be enhanced if clerics and other influential citizens set example to the entire citizenry.

“You can learn a lot from us here in Sokoto because we have maintained peace and tranquility between adherent of many faiths. Peace is a necessary requirement fro development, so i urge you all to support the government in its effort to ensure peace in the country,” the Governor added.

In his remarks, Okpara said they were in Sokoto as part of the commission’s sensitisation visits to states of the federation.
