Oyo CP, Leye Oyegbade, parades pipeline vandals, car snatchers

The long arm of law has caught up a three man gang led by one Ayotunde Adedayo, who claimed to be a graduate specialising in vandalisation of petroleum pipelines in various locations in the state.
The Oyo State police commissioner, CP Leye Oyegbade paraded the suspects at the police headquarters, Iyaganku , Ibadan.
The suspects were arrested by the state highway patrol team at Bare village, off Ajanla, Lagos /Ibadan with two fuel- laden buses containing thirteen drums of 200litre of PMF product.Pipeline vandals (1)
Ayodele who confessed to the crime told newsmen that he got involved in pipeline vandalisation due to unemployment.
His word: I wouldn’t have been a criminal if I have a good job, although it was not my intention to join the gang but I didn’t have a choice because I needed to survive. I got connected by a friend whom I met inside a commercial bus on my way down to toll gate. At first I thought it was a black market business not knowing it was as big as a criminal offence but what can a poor boy do to survive “.
The 29 year old suspects claimed to have graduated from Federal Polytechnic Offa, some years back was but was not was lucky to get a job, as he claimed.Pipeline vandals (2)
However, CpP Leye Oyegbade who noted that the suspects were part of those who sabotage Nigeria’s economy, promised to charge those who have confessed to the crime to court.
Similarly, Oyo police arrested two car snatchers while attempting to convey a stolen vehicle to a criminal receiver in Minna, Niger state.
The arrest which later led to the recovery of other stolen vehicles at Abuja, was made by the special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS along Lagos/Ibadan express way.
Among exhibits recovered from the gang included an ash coloured Toyota Camry with Reg.No BR194 LSR and an unregistered wine Toyota Camry car.
