Senator Isiaka Adetunji Adeleke popularly known as Serubawon, who died Sunday morning at Osogbo was the first civilian governor of Osun state and a top contender for the governorship ticket of the All Progressives Congress in the July 2018 Osun Governorship election.
He was nicknamed Serubawon because of his high profile campaign and flambouyant campaign with helicopter and heavy spraying of money on his rallies way back in 1990.
He died this morning at Biket Hospital Oshogbo, where he was rushed to after complaining about his leg pain and later stomach pains.
Confidants told National Infinity Magazine that the late flambouyant politician attended two functions on Saturday, a wedding and a burial at Iwo and Guta from where he returned to Ede his hometown.
While in Ede, he was sighted at the Palace of Timi of Ede, Oba Muniru Lawal around 8pm. The source said he could not verify if the late Adeleke ate at the palace, but he came out of the palace as usual to the Timi market located directly in front of the palace and doled out money to the waiting crowd and that was his last public show.
One of the domestic staff told NAN that Adeleke had attended a meeting till around 2: am on Sunday before he went to bed. The source further explained that early in the morning on Sunday, Adeleke complained of leg pain and his private doctor was called in to attend to him. According to the staff, the doctor gave him an injection and he left, only to be called back after the senator complained of stomach ache. ” He was later rushed to Biket Hospital where he was finally confirmed dead,’’
