IGP Arase Harps On Community Support For Police At Town Hall Meeting

The Area H Police Command has held its maiden town hall meeting with stakeholders in the area of jurisdiction uf the command.

The event took place on Thursday, 19th May, 2016 at Hadassa Event Centre, Emmanuel High Street, Ogudu.

The theme of the town hall meeting was ‘Adopting Community Policing Practices In Addressing Internal Security Challenges’.

The state Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni, represented the Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase at the event.

The Area H Commander, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Aliyu Garba, while delivering the welcome address expressed appreciation to participants at the event for answering the call of the command.

According to him, the event was a platform for dialogue among stakeholders in the area to deliberate on how to put in place effective, efficient and result-driven security structure in the area.

“The new democratic order demands and deserves accountability, effectiveness and service-oriented safety and security system which guarantees peace and tranquility all the time,” he said.

CP Fatai A Owosemi while giving the keynote address explained that for effective and efficient security to be in place, it is imperative to involve the community in policing activities.

Explaining further, Owoseni stated that assistance is needed from members of the public especially in the area of communication and providing information to the police which will go a long way in not only detecting crimes but also in solving them.
