That Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has returned a positive test for COVID-19 is no more news, but most Lagosians are baffled that the man leading the battle against the virus from the epicentre could easily catch the virus.
Remember that 10 of Gov. Sanwo-olu’s close aides tested positive to the dreaded virus in May 2020 even though the governor and members of his family returned negative when tested then.
But according to a statement titled ‘Sanwo-Olu goes into self-isolation’ by the Lagos Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi.
He said one of the close aides to Sanwo-Olu tested positive for coronavirus, necessitating the governor to isolate.
Days later, Abayomi announced that the 55-year-old governor had tested positive and is undergoing treatment for the infection.
The commissioner said Sanwo-Olu had been tested for COVID-19 for at least three times.
The statement read, “The governor will go into self-isolation immediately after one of his close aides tested positive for COVID-19 on 10th of December.
