Expect no new taxes in Kwara, Says Gov. Ahmed at presentation of staff of office to new Emir of Ilesha Baruba

Kwara State Governor, Dr Abdulfatah Ahmed has reiterated that the newly established Kwara State Internal Revenue Service will not lead to imposition of new taxes but boost the Internally Generated Revenue through the diversification of the State’s economy.

In a press statement release by Abdulwahab Oba, Chief Press Secretary to the Kwara State Governor, Gov. Ahmed gave the assurance in Ilesha Baruba, Baruten local government area of the state during the presentation of staff of office to the new Emir of the town, prof. Halidu Abubakar.

According to him, the mandate of Kwara State Internal Revenue Service was to change the process of collecting existing taxes by deploying technology to block loopholes and increase efficiency.

Ahmed stressed that with increased revenue, his administration would complete existing projects, establish new ones in all sectors as well as inject additional N2b into entrepreneurship development scheme.

Gov. Ahmed urged the new Emir to serve as a builder of bridges of harmony and peace among the people of his domain and beyond.

The Emir of Ilesha Baruba, Prof. Halidu Abubakar in his acceptance speech pledged not to betray the confidence the people of the Emirate and the state government repose in him.

Prof. Abubakar, who is the 28th Emir of Ilesha Baruba assured the state government that the people of his Emirate will support the realization of the government’s programmes and policies, especially the shared prosperity programme.
