Dedication to duty earns Marilyn Ogar promotion

As a reward for dedication to duty, the stylish spokesperson of the Department of State Security (DSS), Marilyn Ogar, has been promoted to the position of a Director of the service.
This is as a result of the promotion exercise that took place recently in the service and Marilyn was among 45 officers of the service who were elevated from grade level 15 to 16.

The long overdue promotion did not come as a surprise to many especially when Ogar’s tenacity, hard work and patriotic zeal are put under consideration as well as her years of unalloyed commitment in serving her fatherland.
The alumnus of Stanford University Executive education and active member of African Public Relations Association obviously got this promotion on the heel of her excellent performance and dedication to the service and Nigeria.

According to an inside source, the lady of style who has brought glamour, friendliness, integrity and understanding between the DSS and its publics is ecstatic and euphoric that her efforts and that of her other colleagues in the service have not been ignored but rewarded in spite of the harsh and unsafe environment under which the members of the DSS and other security agencies work.

The beautiful mother of three and fashionista once had a N50million bounty placed on her by the dreaded militant group, Boko Haram, for any member who kills Ms Marilyn Ogar, for consistently daring and exposing the Boko Haram group. Despite the bounty on her, Ogar waivered not in carrying out her duty.

Her fearlessness put her on record when she and her colleagues rebuffed N14million offered as bribe by an unnamed agent during the governorship election held in Osun state last year.

Though some people see her as being difficult and too strict, those who are close to her claimed she is resilient, kindhearted, honest and frank.
In a related development, director of Professional Women Network for Change in Africa, (PWNCA) Mrs.Omobolanle Sanusi described Ogar as a role model of the popular saying that what a man can do, a woman can do even better.

In a statement issued in Lagos to congratulate the lady spokesperson, PWNCA noted that it is not unusual for her person to be attacked in the media because of the environment we are where most still have the notion that women should not be in the forefront of their career.

According to her, it is the expectation of the organisation that Nigeria might be the first African nation to produce first female national security adviser with kind of calibre of Ogar adding that she should not rest on her oars.

The statement concluded that while Ogar remains focused in her career, her prominence will continue to be a psychological inspiration to thousands of women out there.

The statement concluded that while Ogar remains focused in her career, her prominence will continue to be a psychological inspiration to millions of women out there.

It would be recalled that the Department of State Security has consistently been above board, professional and committed in spite of daunting security challenges, most especially in the fight against insurgency and counter terrorism whereby key figures like Kabiru Sokoto and Ogwuche were apprehended after escape from terror mastermind.

Promoted alongside Ms Ogar are Achu Ben Olayi, who was the director in the Lagos office and a former director, technical, Mr. Omeruyi among other state directors.
