Dangote donates N2bn, food items to IDPs camp

The President of Aliko Dangote Foundation, Alhaji Aliko Dangote yesterday announced the donation of N2 billion to Borno State government for the upkeep and resettlement of Internally Displaced persons (IDPs) in the state.
Dangote also announced the provision of entire foodstuffs for IDPs during the upcoming Ramadan fasting by its foundation to ensure hunger- free camps during the holy month.
The announcement yesterday followed his visit to some of the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camps in Maiduguri, in company of Borno State Governor, Alhaji Kashim Shettima and his Deputy, Alhaji Usman Mamman Durkwa
Ealier at Dalori and Bakassi camp, Alhaji Aliko Dangote said “though my Foundation had spent N1.4billion in Borno, Yobe and Adamawa states, it is not enough and this is why I am here to see things for my self. I want to assure you that we shall continue to work with both State and Federal governments to make sure there is hunger- free at the IDPs camps.
“My Foundation will assist the Borno State government with the sum of N2 billion naira so that the Governor can focus on developmental projects”, Dangote said.
The billionaire, who also paid courtesy visit on Shehu of Borno promised that his Foundation will supply IDPs entire foodstuffs during the upcoming Ramadan period, adding that his foundation will invest and create jobs for the teeming youths in Borno as post insurgency offer.
Aliko-DangoteHe assured the Shehu of Borno, Alh Umar Garbai Ibn Elkanemi at his palace that he will not abandon the state in the rehabilitation, reconstruction and resettlement time.
“Like I said earlier that our visit will not be the last but we will continue to partner with Borno State government to create jobs for our people, also I assure you that the entire food for IDPs during Ramadan will be supplied by Dangote Foundation to alleviate the suffering of our of people.” he said.
The Shehu of Borno, Alhaji Mustapha Ibn El-kanemi thanked Dangote for his support for the state.
“ Now you have donated 2 Billion Naira to IDPs, thereby putting smiles on their faces, because this is the highest to the best of my knowledge, Infact this will go a long way in ameliorating their plights”, the Shehu stated.
In his remarks, the Borno State Governor, Alhaji Kashim Shettima in his emotion- laden speech described the gesture as the best that can happen to the State at the moment.
“ This is not the time for a long speech, but a time to say thank you for coming to the rescue of my devastated and traumatized people.
