Lagos State on Wednesday recorded the highest number to be recorded by any State in Nigeria in a single day turning with 74 new coronavirus cases within 24 hours.
The worrisome rising figures of Lagos means the state accounts for 57.73% of a nationwide total of 873 cases with 383 active cases, 106 discharged and 18 deaths.
The NCDC, which said the total number of infections in Nigeria has risen to 873, noted that Lagos maintains its highest number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country.
The NCDC said, “On the 22nd of April 2020, 91 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 were recorded in Nigeria. Till date, 873 cases have been confirmed, 197 cases have been discharged and 28 deaths have been recorded in Nigeria.
“The 91 new cases are reported from nine states- Lagos (74), Katsina (five), Ogun (four), Edo (two), Delta (two), FCT (one), Adamawa (one), Kwara (one), Oyo (one).
“Breakdown of cases by state: Lagos-504, FCT-119, Kano-73, Ogun-24, Katsina-21, Osun-20, Oyo-17, Edo-17, Kwara-10, Kaduna- nine, Akwa Ibom- nine, Borno- nine, Bauchi- eight, Delta- six, Gombe- five, Ekiti- four, Ondo- three, Rivers- three, Jigawa- two, Enugu-two, Niger- two, Abia- two, Benue- one, Anambra- one, Sokoto- one and Adamawa- one.”
