Buhari’s kinsman who declared self Customs CG sent for medical examination

Nura Dahiru, a Katsina born Assistant Superintendent of Customs, who stormed the headquarters of the Nigerian Customs service wearing the rank of Deputy Comptroller-General of Customs and demanded that CG, Col. Hamid Ali should hand over to him, has been made to face a medical examination.

Dahiru had reported to the office on Monday morning with the rank of DCG and reportedly went to the office of the CG demanding to take over from the retired military office thereby causing a stir at the customs headquarters.

According to men of the service who witnessed Dahiru’s action, the Katsina state born officer claimed that he was acting on the directive of President Muhammadu Buhari to assume the office of Comptroller-General.

It was gathered that while some of the personnel of the service who didn’t know him personally saluted him as a sign of respect, those who knew him were surprised about his actions.

A source said, “Dahiru came in this morning wearing the rank of DCG and walked straight to the office of CG to take over the affairs from him.

“We were all surprised when he walked in with the rank. I think something must definitely be wrong with him because it looks like a joke taken too far.”

Reacting to the development, Customs Public Relation Officer, Joseph Attah, told one of our correspondents that medical personnel were invited to examine the mental state of Dahiru.

He said based on preliminary investigations, it was obvious that Dahiru was not in a proper state of mind.

He said, “What happened was that an assistant superintendent of customs came to the office wearing the rank of a deputy comptroller-general.

“From questions and answers that followed, it was obvious he was not in the right frame of mind; so a doctor was immediately invited. He is presently undergoing a medical examination at the medical unit of the service.”
