Wife of the late sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, Hannah Idowu Dideolu (HID) Awolowo reportedly died earlier today aged 99 in her Ikenne home just two months and six days to her centenary celebration.
Hannah Idowu Dideolu Awolowo (née Adelana), popularly known as HID, was born on November 25, 1915 to a modest family in the small Ikenne community of Ogun State in Nigeria.
Obafemi Awolowo’s “jewel of inestimable value” was a successful businesswoman and astute politician, she was the First Lady of the old Western Region. HID played an active role in the politics of Western Nigeria.
She reportedly had a meeting with her family including her children, and grand-children towards her planned Centenary celebration slated for November 25th.
