Betty Akeredolu set to Launch Forum for Wives of Ondo State Officials (FOWOSO)

The wife of the Ondo State Governor, Arabinrin Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu has again charged members of the Forum for Wives Of Ondo State Officials (FOWOSO) on the need to do their best in order to ensure that the impact of governance is felt at the rural areas.

Speaking at the meeting held at the Banquet Hall of the Government House, Akure, Mrs. Akeredolu who noted that empowerment of women forms one of the cardinal goals of FOWOSO, further observed that the goal of the group is to take care of the softer side of government by embarking on projects that are tangible and measurable.

“Empowerment is one of the reasons FOWOSO was set up. I have always been saying it that we all have to be more and that includes all spheres of life. I need you to take this message back to your local government so that our women can have a sense of what we are doing.

“Our job is to take care of the softer sides of government – that is not to say our husbands are not doing enough, in fact, they are overwhelmed in the face of dwindling federal allocation. If we get it right, everybody will feel the impact of governance- We are the ones the society is looking upon to take care of some of these issues”, she stressed.

Arabinrin Akeredolu also used the opportunity to educate other FOWOSO members on the importance of good nutrition and immunization among others, stressing that the time has come for women to begin to take the lead and become visible at all points of decision making in the country.

“I tell you, it is somebody that is well that can do stuffs; if your child is sick or your husband, you won’t be able to do anything – That goes to show how critical our health is to national development. Nutrition is connected to our health, she said while charging FOWOSO members to work the talk.

In one of the responses, the chairman, Okitipupa Local Government, Mrs. Jumoke Alaka thanked the First Lady for her initiative while promising a hundred percent support from FOWOSO members towards actualising the goals of the government.
