Chief Alexander Opeyemi Akinyele, Nigeria’s former Minister of Information, and later Chairman, National Sports Commission is dead. A statement by one of his sons, Constantine Akinfolarin Akinyele, confirmed that the Lobosin of Ondo kingdom passed away Thursday night after a brief illness. Akinyele was a doyen of public relations practice in Nigeria. In his lifetime, he contributed immensely towards raising the standard of the profession and the formation of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations.
