Gambian President Yahya Jammeh on Tuesday declared a state of emergency, citing foreign interference in a presidential election he lost to opponent Adama Barrow last month. The declaration was necessary “due to the unprecedented and extraordinary amount of foreign inference in the December 1 presidential elections and also in the internal affairs of The Gambia,” Jammeh said on state television. This had created an “unwarranted hostile atmosphere, threatening the sovereignty, peace, security and stability of the country,” he added.

An unidentified militant group in the Niger Delta have blown up a crude oil trunkline in Ughelli, Delta State, barely 24 hours after Vice President Yemi Osinbajo led a Federal Government delegation to the region. Kwara LGs Get N100m For Former Political Office Holders

Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed has approved the release of N100milion to local governments in the State for the payment of arrears of former political office holders. The State Commissioner for Finance, Alhaji Demola Banu, who disclosed this on Monday, said that the local councils are to use the funds to offset the unpaid salaries and allowances of the ex-political office holders.
